Router Design in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Chris Ramming My statement will concern mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs). Both experience and theory suggest that we may need to revisit some widely-held assumptions about network architecture to compensate for the challenges of mobility, spectrum limitations, multicast, and wireless broadcast advantage. Using examples from ongoing research in the DARPA CBMANET and ITMANET programs, I will illustrate how router design and perhaps even the concept of routing itself might need to evolve to support future MANETs.
